COLOMBIA | DENMARK | ANTANUS MOCKUS, ENRIQUE PENALOSA & ANDREAS DALSGAARD: BOGOTA CHANGE
‘Now and Then, How Sustainable was my Sustainability?’
From getting their pants down and showing the audience a bare ass to walking the streets in cape as Supercitizen – the tactics and symbolic violence used by Antanas Mockus and Enrique Peñalosa, two consecutive and charismatic mayors of Bogotá, to do away with the reputation of their city as the world’s most dangerous place in just ten years, from 1994 until 2003 – were as unorthodox as they were unique. Yet they succeeded brilliantly. A recipe – apart from their selflessness? “Extreme honesty and integrity, “ said the Danish filmmaker Andreas Dalsgaard, whose documentary ‘Cities on Speed – Bogota Change’ blazed the duo into the status of worldwide examples.
The research will be part of TOTAL CHANGE—NIEUWE GLOBAL GESTALTUNG #001
Five years after Max Borka and Mapping the Design World included what Mockus and Peñalosa did to Bogota, and the way Dalsgaard filmed this, in a worldwide and groundbreaking overview of the latest in social, critical and experimental design, the exhibition Now and Then at the state of DESIGN, BERLIN 2017 festival goes on the search for what happened to them since then.,
