Nils Fischer (Studio nFischer)
SOON AT THE STATE OF DESIGN, BERLIN 2017 FESTIVAL, AS PART OF ALLES NEU, NIEUWE GERMAN GESTALTUNG #006
Antifragilität: A bis D – Möbelserie für Minimalisten und Wartezimmer / Antifragility: A to D – Furniture series for minimalists and waiting roomsEssentially a wardrobe, this ensemble consists of a series ofobjects, or rather figures, the forms of which are based on a simple geometric system. Stripped down to their bare essentials, they move between many opposite poles, such as of decomposition and stability, or abstract and concrete, while their mass is countered by their fragile appearance, referencing voids. Variable, users can further develop them to their needs. “This series is as bare as a skeleton can possibly be,“ says Fischer, “It is up to the users to choose and add the functional parts whenever that seems appropriate, and answers their needs. So bit by bit A-D will reshape itself through the habits and mannerisms of its owners”.
Nils Fischer studied Design at the Fachhochschule Potsdam and at the Design Centre of the Swinbourne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. After his graduation in 2010he worked as a freelance designer for different companies and design agencies. In 2012, he moved to New York and initiated the colaborative Studio SAIA together with the artist Sandra Lange, working on light concepts and exploring the possibilities of glass in art andarchitecture. Back in Berlin, in 2013, he became a founding member of Studio AFS, developing designs in the field of Film and Photography equipment. Next to this he works as a free lance designer in various fields.
