SLOVAKIA | MARIAN LASSAK: DIARY OF DAILINESS
SOON AT THE STATE OF DESIGN, BERLIN 2017 FESTIVAL AS PART OF TOTAL CHANGE, NIEUWE GLOBAL GESTALTUNG #001A collection of 6 objects - three standing lamps, and three objects that are mounted on the wall. As the name implies, the collection celebrates the ordinary, and the beauty in the banal, but in doing so takes architectural elements out of their famirar environment, and shows them in a different context. Lost and empty corners, respectively made out of different materials such as brick, concrete, and drywall construction, thus paradoxically become the center of interest. Detva based Marian Lassak (°79) is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, where he received a Doctors degree in design in 2011. He also studied at the Faculty of Architecture of Slovak Technical University in the same city. After an internship at the Erik Klarenbeek´s studio he worked for Studio Muller Van Tol in Amsterdam in 2013. One year later, he founded Lassak Studio. Since 2015 he is a lecturer in Studio Art design on Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. His work focuses on products, furniture and spatial interventions, including installations, while underlining the communicative and cultural aspects of design.
